Direct from South Africa, the awe-inspiring Soweto Gospel Choir performs an inspirational program of tribal, traditional, and popular African gospel in six different languages -- both a capella and accompanied by the choir’s four-piece band and percussion section. Earthy rhythms, rich harmonies, energetic dancing, colorful costumes, and charismatic performances combine to uplift the soul, buoyed by music with strong roots and a powerful spiritual message. Winners of the 2006 and 2007 Grammy Awards for Best Traditional World Music Album, the choir carries a rich heritage forward, celebrating the spirit of South Africa, and expressing great hopes for the future.
