The Paramount is pleased to announce that a limited number of regularly-priced tickets to the theater's Fall Gala featuring Broadway stars Michael Feinstein and Linda Eder have just been made available for sale to the public. The October 9 event is a fundraiser for The Paramount Theater Foundation in support of the historic facility's long-term needs, helping The Paramount to serve the Central Virginia region with world-class performing arts and educational programs.
Vocalist and pianist Michael Feinstein is not only an outstanding musician, but arguably the single most knowledgeable and dedicated musical archivist the Great American Songbook has ever known. The four-time Grammy® Award-nominee has spent his entire adult life chronicling, cataloging, preserving, protecting, and recording the work of various masters, tending to sidestep bigger names like Cole Porter and Irving Berlin in favor of less-heralded geniuses, such as Jule Styne, Jerry Herman, Jimmy Webb, and Jay Livingston. Feinstein remains busier than ever with a non-stop touring schedule and hands-on management of Feinstein's at the Regency, the elegant Manhattan club he established six years ago to provide a showcase for such performers as Rosemary Clooney, John Pizzarelli, and Ann Hampton Callaway.
Singer Linda Eder considers three vocalists to have influenced her more than any others -- Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand and Eileen Farrell. Blessed with extraordinary vocal gifts, Eder never needed formal training. After spending much of her 20's perfecting her vocals and stage presence, her big break came in 1988 on the TV show "Star Search," where she reigned for a record thirteen weeks. That success led to the lead role of Lucy in the 1990 Broadway musical Jekyll & Hyde. Eder has recorded eight albums of standards, pop hits, and original songs between 1994 and 2005. Her appearances have ranged from Carnegie Hall to Broadway's Gershwin Theater, and performing her song "Gold," to which Kristi Yamaguchi skated during the 2002 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies.
The Fall Gala will take place at 8 pm on Sunday, October 9. Tickets range in price from $55 to $49. Some Patron tickets for the fundraiser, which are $250 and $500, also remain, and include additional pre- and post-performance events. Top-level Patron ticket holders also have the opportunity to meet the artists. Tickets are on sale now, and may be purchased by calling The Paramount's Box Office at 434.979.1333.
