For Immediate Release

March 14, 2008

Continuing the theater’s participation in First Fridays, The Paramount is hosting a solo exhibit of oil paintings by local artist Katelyn Sack. While oils on canvas are Sack’s primary artworks, Sack's work ranges from mixed-media and oils-only caricatures and portraits, to impressionist studies of flowers, visual representations of music, and poem-paintings.

Her show at The Paramount will open on Friday, April 4 at 5 pm, and be installed in the theater’s ballroom (on the ground level adjacent to the grand lobby) for the month of April.

Obama Embrace by Katelyn Sack

Trained in humanities at the University of Virginia, Sack has taught art, music, and dance for the City of Charlottesville (Department of Parks & Recreation), and continues to teach independently.

Recent solo exhibits have been installed at Barnes & Noble, Java Java, At Last Hair Color Studio, Vanity Salon, Thomas Jefferson Memorial Church, Play On! Theatre, HotCakes, Cassis, Café Cubano, Enoteca, Just Java, and Wachovia.

As stated on her website, her mission as an artist is “to celebrate the beauty and truth all around me, to glory in the diversity of existence and appreciate the order within chaos. Art is nothing if not a way to offer hope and empowerment. It is philosophy at its most respectful, activism at its most responsible, and the human condition at its best.”

The Paramount’s First Fridays Exhibit featuring the work of Katelyn Sack will be open on Friday, April 4 from 5 to 7 pm. Admission is free.
