Step into the labyrinth again to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this fantastical film!

Pan’s Labyrinth, from visionary filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, is an Academy Award-winning dark fantasy set in 1944 Spain. Following a bloody civil war, young Ofelia enters a world of unimaginable cruelty when she moves in with her new stepfather, a tyrannical military officer. Armed with only her imagination, Ofelia discovers a mysterious labyrinth and meets a faun who sets her on a path to saving herself and her ailing mother. Soon, the line between fantasy and reality begins to blur and before Ofelia can turn back, she finds herself at the center of the ferocious battle between Good and Evil.

Did you know?

  • The captain’s room is made to look like the inside of his father’s watch, which Guillermo del Toro says represents his troubled mind.
  • The faun’s legs were not computer-generated. A special system was created whereby actor Doug Jones wore green stockings, and stuck his legs through the faun’s upper legs, with his feet fastened to the faun’s feet. Whenever Jones moved, he would control the faun’s fake legs himself. Afterwards, the green parts of Jones’ legs that were visible were digitally removed.
  • The movie, set in a verdant forest, was shot in a location that was experiencing its worst drought in years. Gunshots and explosions had to be added digitally to reduce the risk of fire.
