Virginia Dance Company Presents: WE R DCO
The Virginia Dance Company (DCO) presents “We R DCO,” a high-energy showcase featuring 50 talented UVA student dancers performing in a variety of styles, including contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical. Drawing inspiration from Kesha’s fun spirit, this show celebrates self-expression, creativity, and community through dance. You won’t want to miss this – the party don’t start ’til DCO walks in!
Company Bio:
Founded in 1980 by Charlottesville dance studio owner Juanita Wilson, The Virginia Dance Company began as the Virginia Dance Club at UVA. Ms. Wilson envisioned a student-run organization that would allow dancers to continue growing their skills throughout college. Each semester, the company holds auditions to attract talented dancers from diverse backgrounds, culminating in a showcase that features 10-12 student-choreographed pieces. Now known around Grounds as DCO, the company has evolved beyond Ms. Wilson’s original vision to become a creative home for some of UVA’s most dedicated and passionate dancers.
